Can you produce plus-size or extended sizes for bottoms?

Plus-size and extended sizes

Yes. Extended sizes, including plus-size ranges, can be produced when the pattern is graded appropriately. The key point is that larger sizes are not simply scaled versions of smaller ones: proportions, armholes, sleeve lengths and body width need to be adjusted so the garment fits properly across the range.

For brands developing an inclusive size range, we recommend confirming the chart and grading approach before sampling, then producing at least one sample in a mid-range size and one in an extended size. Comparing those two samples is the quickest way to judge whether the grading holds up.

Practical details also matter at extended sizes, such as fabric consumption, seam strength and hardware weight. We will flag anything that could affect cost or durability so the range can be planned realistically.

For inclusive ranges, we recommend testing one extended size early in development rather than after bulk, because pattern adjustments are much cheaper to make at the sample stage.
