What GSM fleece do you use for premium hoodies?
Fleece weight for premium hoodies
Premium hoodies are usually chosen somewhere in the range of roughly 320 to 450 gsm, with the heavier end used when structure, warmth and a substantial feel matter most. The right figure depends on the handfeel you want and the market you sell into, so we agree a target and then compare the fabric options available.
Two fleece fabrics at the same weight can feel quite different depending on the yarn, the knit and the finishing, so weight alone does not describe the result. A denser, tighter fleece often reads as more premium than a heavier but looser one.
Heavier fleece generally costs more, so a very heavy hoodie suits a flagship piece rather than every style in a range. A core weight with one or two heavier pieces is a common way to balance cost and impact.
Where embroidery or appliqué is used, the fleece surface affects how the decoration sits, so fabric and decoration are considered together when the sample is developed.
Tell us the feel and price point you are aiming for and we will confirm the fabric options for your order.
