Denim weights and washes

Denim for bottoms is commonly chosen between roughly 10 and 14 oz, with lighter weights giving a softer, more flexible feel and heavier weights giving structure and durability. The right choice depends on the look and the season you are selling into.

Wash is a separate decision from weight. A raw or rinse finish shows the denim's own character, while stone, acid and enzyme washes soften the surface and change the colour, so the finish is developed on a sample before bulk.

Because washing affects shade and slightly the measurements, the approved washed sample is the reference, and the colour and tolerance are agreed after the test rather than before it.

Weight and wash also interact: a heavy denim with a strong wash can lose some of its stiffness, which is why we recommend judging the finished sample rather than the raw fabric alone.

Tell us the look and the season and we will confirm the weights and washes available for your order.
