ODM: development on top of a reference

In ODM, development starts from a style that already exists rather than a blank page. You choose a reference silhouette, and the work then focuses on adapting it: fit, fabric weight, colour, decoration and finishing are adjusted to match your brand and your price point.

It is usually the faster route for a first collection, because the pattern and construction logic already exist. The trade-off is that the starting point is shared, so the differentiation has to come from the choices you make rather than from the base style.

The process itself is the same as any other order. The specification is written down, the sample is produced and approved in writing, and bulk production repeats that approved piece. Sampling typically takes around two weeks, and bulk production typically takes three to four weeks after approval.

Where a reference needs exclusivity or a design cannot be shared, that is agreed in the contract rather than assumed, and it is worth raising at the first conversation so the scope is clear before sampling begins.
