Accepted Answer

Producing under your own brand and private labelProducing under your own brand and private label is a core part of what we do. Your brand can appear on the neck label, care label, hangtag, packaging and any woven patch or embroidery, so the finished garment arrives as your own.The practical steps are to agree the label content, the placement and the artwork, then confirm them on the sample before bulk. Approving labels early avoids surprises later in production. We keep your brand details and designs confidential, and access to your files can be limited to the team working on your order. If you are launching, we can develop a small range first so you can test the market before committing to a full collection, since MOQ applies per style and per colour.Send your brand and product brief and we will confirm how the private-label element can be handled for your order.Label content should also match the rules of the market you sell in, so care instructions and fibre content are printed correctly for your destination. Tell us the market when the labels are designed.Where several colourways share one label design, that usually simplifies approval. If labels change per colourway or per style, tell us at the quotation stage so it is planned into the order.

Accepted Answer

OEM and ODM servicesWe offer both OEM and ODM. In OEM, you bring the design, tech pack or reference sample and we manufacture to your specification. In ODM, we help develop the product itself, suggesting fabrics, fits and construction that suit your market. Most projects sit somewhere between the two, so the practical question is how much of the development you want to own. If you have a clear design, OEM keeps control with you; if you have a brand idea but no technical drawings, ODM moves it forward faster. Both routes run through the same process: brief, sampling, revision, approval, then bulk production with quality checks before shipping.A documented drawing, specification or reference sample is what allows either route to start, and we can help convert a sketch or a reference garment into a production-ready tech pack where needed.Tell us which route fits your project and we will confirm the next step.Deciding early which route you want keeps development efficient. If you plan to sell the design onward as your own, we recommend documenting the specification fully, so the product can be reproduced consistently in later seasons. If you are starting from a reference garment rather than a drawing, we can measure and analyse it and build a specification from that, which works for both OEM and ODM projects.

Accepted Answer

A manufacturer, not a trading companyWe are a direct apparel manufacturer with our own production base in Dongguan, China, and more than 20 years of experience. We are not a trading company that passes your order to an unknown third party. This means sampling, pattern making, production and quality control are handled by our own team, so technical questions are answered by the people who actually make the garments, and pricing comes directly from the factory.Direct manufacturing also makes custom work more practical: because we control the sample room and the pattern, changes to fit, fabric or decoration are handled within the same team rather than relayed between companies.Where a specialised process is needed, we work with vetted partners under our supervision, and we can explain which steps are completed in our own workshop and which are handled by partners.Send your project details and we will confirm how we would produce your order.Because production is under our own roof, communication is shorter: a technical question goes to the pattern maker or the line supervisor directly, rather than through a sales layer that has to check with a supplier. You are also welcome to visit the factory or arrange a video call to see the sample room and the production floor, and we can explain during that discussion which processes are completed by our team and which are handled by specialised partners.

Accepted Answer

Shipping directly to your customersWe are a manufacturer and normally ship bulk orders to your warehouse or your nominated forwarder. Direct-to-consumer shipping is a different model and depends on your order structure, your destination and the delivery method used.If you need goods sent to more than one address, the practical approach is to agree it at the quotation stage, because it affects packing, labelling and freight, and may not suit every delivery method. For most brands the smoother route is one consolidated export shipment to your own fulfilment centre, from where you distribute to customers, since this usually keeps freight and customs simpler and more economical.Where a direct arrangement is possible for your case, the terms, packing and documentation are confirmed in writing rather than assumed from a general policy.Describe your delivery requirement with your enquiry and we will confirm what can be arranged for your order. If you are considering sending goods directly to customers, we would need the order data, the packing format and the labelling your carrier requires, since these change what is practical and what it costs.Where returns are part of your model, it is worth planning how they would be handled, because a manufacturer is not normally set up to receive and process consumer returns in the destination country.

Question 5

Bulk export packing is designed to protect the goods and move efficiently. Garments are usually folded and packed into polybags, then into export cart

Accepted Answer

How bulk orders are packed for exportBulk export packing is designed to protect the goods and move efficiently. Garments are usually folded and packed into polybags, then into export cartons, with sizes and colours either packed together or separated according to your instruction. Each carton is labelled with your order reference, and a packing list is prepared so you can check what has arrived and route cartons to different destinations where needed. If you sell online and need individual polybag packing with your own labels or barcodes, this can be arranged and is best specified at the quotation stage, because it affects packing time and cost.Carton dimensions and weights are recorded so you can plan storage and onward shipping, and any special requirement, such as flat or hanging packing, is confirmed before production.Tell us your packing preference and we will confirm the standard and any options for your order.Where a buyer requires barcodes, size stickers or specific carton markings, send the requirements at the quotation stage so labels can be produced and applied during packing rather than afterwards.Packing materials can also be adjusted to your market: for example, certain destinations prefer less plastic, and recycled or paper-based options can be discussed if your brand or retailer asks for them.

Accepted Answer

Consolidating several products in one shipmentIf you buy several products from different suppliers, we can sometimes receive and combine goods so they travel in one shipment, which can reduce freight cost and simplify customs clearance. Whether this is practical depends on timing and the nature of the goods. To consolidate successfully, the goods need to be ready at roughly the same time, because storage and timing costs can outweigh the saving if one part arrives much later. It helps to share your expected readiness dates when the shipment is planned. We can also ship to your nominated warehouse or forwarder so you consolidate on your side instead, which keeps full control of the process with you.Documents are prepared so each product in the shipment is clearly identified, which helps at customs and with your own inventory and receiving records.Share your shipment plan and we will confirm what can be consolidated for your order.Where several products travel together, we can also label and split the cartons by product or by destination, so you receive a clear packing list even though everything moves under one shipment reference.Consolidation is not always the cheapest option if it forces one part of the order to wait. Where timing does not line up, shipping in two lots is often more practical, and we are happy to compare both approaches with you.

Question 7

These Incoterms describe where our responsibility ends and yours begins. EXW means the goods are collected from our factory; FOB means we deliver them

Accepted Answer

DDP, FOB or EXW — choosing the shipping termThese Incoterms describe where our responsibility ends and yours begins. EXW means the goods are collected from our factory; FOB means we deliver them to the port and load them on board; DDP means we deliver to your address with duties paid. The better choice depends on your experience and your freight arrangements. Buyers with their own forwarder often prefer FOB or EXW so they control the freight, while buyers who want one delivered price and less paperwork often prefer DDP.FOB is the most common term for sea shipments, both full container and groupage, while express courier shipments are usually handled under a delivered arrangement because the courier manages the whole journey.Whichever term you choose, it is stated clearly in the quotation so both sides know what is included, and any specific requirement you have, such as a nominated forwarder, can be built into the arrangement.Tell us your preference and destination and we will quote on the term that suits your order.Incoterms also decide practical points such as who pays for loading, who clears export and import, and where risk transfers. These are stated on the quotation so there is no dispute later about which party handles a particular cost.Whichever term you choose, the same term is used consistently on the invoice and shipping documents, because mismatches between them can cause delays at customs or with your bank.

Question 8

Shipping cost depends on the weight or volume of the shipment, the route, the method and the Incoterm, so it is quoted per order rather than set as a

Accepted Answer

Shipping cost and transit timeShipping cost depends on the weight or volume of the shipment, the route, the method and the Incoterm, so it is quoted per order rather than set as a fixed rate. Two shipments of similar value can differ widely in cost when one travels by air and the other by sea.As a general guide, sea freight is the most economical option for larger volumes but has the longest transit, air freight is faster at a higher cost, and express courier suits smaller parcels. The exact figure and timing are confirmed in your quotation once the order details are known.Duties and taxes at destination depend on the destination country and the product, and are separate from freight unless you choose a term such as DDP where they are included in the price.Weather, port congestion and peak season can affect actual transit, so we treat transit figures as estimates and keep you informed of the shipment status as it moves.Send the destination, quantity and target date and we will confirm the cost and estimated transit for your order.

Question 9

Accepted Answer

Shipping your order internationallyWe ship worldwide by sea, air and express courier, and the right method depends on your order size, budget and how urgently you need the goods. Small or urgent shipments usually move by air or courier, while larger orders usually move by sea.The choice of Incoterm decides who arranges and pays for each stage: EXW leaves the goods at our factory, FOB places them on board at the port, and DDP delivers to your address with duties handled. Which term applies to your order is stated in the quotation. We work with freight forwarders and can also ship to your nominated forwarder's warehouse if you prefer to control the freight yourself. Shipping documents are prepared so your customs broker has what is needed at destination.Transit times vary by route, season and shipping method, so we confirm an estimate for your specific destination rather than quoting one figure for everyone.Tell us your destination and target date and we will confirm the shipping options available for your order.Typical shipping documents include the commercial invoice, the packing list and the transport document, such as a bill of lading for sea freight or an air waybill for air freight, together with any certificate of origin or inspection record your buyer has asked for.Cargo insurance is normally arranged by the party responsible for freight under the agreed term, or by you if you prefer to cover it yourself. Tell us early if your buyer requires a specific document set, so it can be prepared before the goods leave.

Question 10

Accepted Answer

Social-compliance audits and factory documentsSocial-compliance schemes such as BSCI or Sedex relate to a specific factory and a specific audit, and the documents that satisfy your buyer depend on what your platform or retail customer requires. We do not publish audit claims in advance. The practical route is to tell us which scheme and which documents you need, so we can confirm what is available for the factory producing your order, and whether the requested document can be supplied or whether an audit would be needed.Where your buyer requires a specific audit format, this is best raised at the quotation stage, because it can affect timing and, in some cases, which production route is used for your order. We do not state audit results or membership we cannot support with current paperwork, and any document is confirmed against the actual factory and order rather than assumed.Share your requirement list and we will confirm what can be provided, with the details confirmed in writing.Documentation requests are also easier to answer when they arrive with the enquiry, because the factory that will run your order is confirmed at quotation rather than after the deposit. That keeps expectations aligned from the start.Where a document is not available, we say so plainly and discuss the options with you, rather than supplying a substitute that does not satisfy your buyer's requirement. It is better to resolve this at the quotation stage than at shipping.Infullsail holds BSCI social compliance certification for the factory. Where a material certificate or test report is required for your market, for example OEKO-TEX or specific compliance testing, we confirm availability for the specific fabric and process at the quotation stage.

Accepted Answer

CPSIA and REACH requirementsCPSIA in the United States and REACH in the European Union set limits on substances in apparel and accessories. Whether your order is affected depends on the materials, trims, prints and finishes used, so requirements are reviewed against the actual goods rather than treated as a general statement.Practically, the useful step is to share your restricted-substance list and the destination market before the materials are confirmed, so suitable fabrics and trims are selected from the start rather than being changed later in development.Where testing is required, it is arranged on the exact material for your order, typically around the sampling stage. Some items are covered by mill documents, while others may need a specific test on the fabric, print or trim.We do not promise compliance in advance; anything relating to regulation is confirmed against your order's materials and, where relevant, with your own compliance team or testing partner.Send your requirement list with the enquiry and we will confirm what can be supported for your order.Infullsail holds BSCI social compliance certification for the factory. Where a material certificate or test report is required for your market, for example OEKO-TEX or specific compliance testing, we confirm availability for the specific fabric and process at the quotation stage.

Accepted Answer

Third-party test reports for your orderReports such as OEKO-TEX or SGS-type test reports are normally issued by independent laboratories on specific materials. Whether a report already exists for a fabric depends on the mill and the material, so we check rather than assume. For your order we can confirm during sampling whether a report can be provided for the exact fabric, print or trim you choose, and whether an existing report already covers that material or a new test is required.Where testing is required, it is arranged on the actual material used in your order, so the result applies to your goods rather than to a general factory claim. This is one of the points we review together before bulk production. We do not issue or imply certificates we cannot support, and any report is confirmed alongside the material documents at the quotation or sampling stage.Tell us which reports your buyer requires and we will confirm what can be provided for your order. So if a buyer hands you a fixed test list, send it with your enquiry: we can then tell you early whether the materials we would normally use can meet it, or whether a specific fabric or trim should be selected instead.Timing matters too. A test arranged during sampling usually fits comfortably before bulk, while a test requested late in production can delay shipping. Building required testing into the sample stage is the cheaper and more reliable order of events.Infullsail holds BSCI social compliance certification for the factory. Where a material certificate or test report is required for your market, for example OEKO-TEX or specific compliance testing, we confirm availability for the specific fabric and process at the quotation stage.

Accepted Answer

EU and US apparel complianceApparel sold in the EU and US must meet rules on labelling, fibre content, care instructions and restricted substances. Whether a particular order complies depends on the fabric, the trims and the decoration actually used, so it is confirmed against those materials rather than assumed for a whole factory. In practice we work from your requirement list. Tell us at the start which market the goods are for, so the label content, care symbols and any substance limits are built into the specification before production begins, instead of being adjusted afterwards.Where a test is needed, it is normally arranged on the actual fabric, print or finish used in your order, so the result reflects your goods. Testing and documentation can be discussed during the sampling stage. We do not promise compliance in advance or issue documents we cannot support; anything relating to regulation is confirmed against the material for your order, and where relevant with your own compliance team or testing partner.Send your destination market and requirement list with your enquiry and we will confirm what can be provided for your order.

Question 14

We do not publish a fixed list of certificates in advance, because which documents apply depends on the fabric, the process and the market you sell in

Accepted Answer

Certifications and material documentationWe do not publish a fixed list of certificates in advance, because which documents apply depends on the fabric, the process and the market you sell in. In practice, certification is tied to specific materials and trims rather than to one blanket label for a whole factory. What we can do is confirm, during sampling, whether the material documents you need can be provided for the exact fabric and trim used in your order. Some documents are issued by the material mills, and some by specialist finishing partners, so they are checked against your actual order rather than assumed. If your compliance list is fixed, send it before quotation so we can review feasibility early and, where an item cannot be met with the standard material, propose an alternative that suits your requirement. We do not claim certifications we cannot support with current paperwork, and we never state compliance in advance of checking the material for your order. Anything relating to certification is confirmed against the actual materials, usually at the sampling stage.Share your required document list with your enquiry and we will confirm what can be supplied, with the details confirmed in writing.Infullsail holds BSCI social compliance certification for the factory. Where a material certificate or test report is required for your market, for example OEKO-TEX or specific compliance testing, we confirm availability for the specific fabric and process at the quotation stage.

Accepted Answer

Inspection reports with shipmentsWe can provide inspection records and photos for your order, and where a third-party inspection has been arranged, the report is issued by the inspection company directly to you. Records are shared with the shipping documents so everything arrives together. What the records contain depends on the agreed inspection plan: typically measurements against the approved chart, workmanship checks, decoration checks, labelling and packing confirmation, and photographs of the finished goods. If your buying process requires specific items in the report, tell us at the quotation stage so they can be included. Some brands also ask for a pre-shipment confirmation note or a sample of the packed product. Where that is useful, we are happy to arrange it as part of the final inspection process. If your internal process requires a specific report format, send an example at the quotation stage and we will confirm what can be provided with the shipment.Where a client requires shipping documents and inspection records to travel together, tell us at the quotation stage so the paperwork can be prepared before the goods are packed.

Accepted Answer

Defective units after deliveryIf you find an issue after delivery, contact our team with photos and details within the period agreed in your order. We compare the reported items against the approved sample and the inspection standard agreed for the order, and verified defects are handled according to that standard, with rework or replacement as appropriate. The practical process is documented rather than informal: report with photos and quantities, allow us to review production and inspection records, agree the resolution, and confirm how replacement pieces will be produced and shipped. Clear records on both sides make this straightforward.Prevention remains the priority on our side, which is why materials are checked before cutting, garments are checked in-line and a final inspection happens before packing. That sequence is what keeps most issues from reaching the customer in the first place. For repeat clients, we also review recurring issues at the pattern or specification level, so the same problem does not return in the next production run.

Accepted Answer

Third-party inspectionsYes. You are welcome to arrange a third-party inspection before shipment. Third-party checks are common on larger orders, and we cooperate with the process: we coordinate the timing and give the inspector access to the relevant production and records. In practice, you appoint the inspection company and agree the standard and date with them, and we plan the production and packing schedule so the inspection can take place before the goods are packed. The inspector issues the report directly to you, which keeps the process independent. If you plan an inspection, tell us early. Scheduling is easier when the date is known before production starts, and any questions raised by the inspector can be resolved while the order is still in the factory. If an inspection raises points, we review them with you directly and agree how any corrections will be handled before the goods are packed. If the inspection reveals a point that needs correction, we agree with you in writing how it will be resolved and confirm the revised timing before packing continues.

Accepted Answer

Defect ratesWe do not publish a fixed defect rate, because a meaningful figure depends on the methods agreed for a specific order, including the inspection standard and the definition of a defect. Instead, we control quality through in-line checks and a final inspection against the approved sample, and we address verified issues per the agreed standard.Where a problem is identified, the practical process is straightforward: the issue is documented with photos and quantities, compared against the approved sample and specification, and resolved through rework or replacement as appropriate. Most issues are caught before shipment because of the in-line checks. If your buying process requires a particular quality metric, for example a maximum percentage for a specific defect type, discuss it at the quotation stage so the inspection plan can be aligned with it.If you compare suppliers on quality, more useful questions are what is checked, when it is checked and how issues are resolved, rather than a single defect percentage quoted without context.

Accepted Answer

Inspection approachWe apply in-line checks during production and a final inspection against the approved sample before packing. Whether a formal sampling standard, such as AQL, is applied to your order is agreed with you in advance, and the agreed standard is documented so both sides are checking against the same rule.In-line checks matter most in practice, because they catch issues while the order is still in production rather than after everything is sewn. For example, if a print placement drifts or a seam allowance is inconsistent, the correction is applied to the remaining pieces rather than discovered at the end.If your brand requires a specific inspection level, tell us during development so the specification and inspection plan reflect it from the start. For orders where quality is critical, some brands arrange a pre-production meeting to confirm inspection criteria before cutting begins, which removes ambiguity later. If your order involves several fabrics or colours, the inspection plan is arranged so each fabric group is checked against its own approved standard rather than one standard for the whole order.

Accepted Answer

Quality control stepsQuality control runs through the order rather than being a single check at the end. Materials and trims are inspected when they arrive, garments are checked in line during cutting, sewing and decoration, and finished pieces are reviewed against the approved sample before packing. The final inspection covers measurements against the approved chart, workmanship such as stitching and finishing, decoration quality including print and embroidery placement, and labelling and packing details. Anything that does not match the approved standard is corrected before the goods are packed. We also share updates during production, including photos and inspection notes where useful, so a brand can follow progress without being at the factory. The approved sample remains the reference for all of these checks. If you have a specific checklist, such as measurement points or packing requirements, share it during development and we will build it into the inspection plan.Where the order includes a wash or heavy decoration, more checkpoints are added at those specific stages, since those processes have the greatest effect on the finished appearance.

Accepted Answer

In-house production and partnersWe produce in our own factory in Dongguan, China, where cutting, sewing, finishing and quality control are coordinated by our team. Specialised processes such as washing, printing and embroidery are carried out by our in-house team or by vetted partner workshops, always under our quality control process.Working with selected partners for specific processes is normal in apparel manufacturing, because specialised machinery is required for certain wash and decoration effects. The important part is control: samples and bulk for those processes follow our specifications, and finished pieces are checked against the approved sample before packing. For brands, this means a single point of contact and a single quality standard, even where several processes are involved in producing one garment. If you would like assurance on this point, we can explain during a factory visit or video call which processes are completed in our own workshop and which are handled by specialised partners.

Accepted Answer

Peak season capacityCapacity during peak periods is planned per order. Peak weeks in apparel production typically follow the retail calendar, and they fill earlier than quieter periods, so the production window is confirmed when the order is placed rather than assumed afterwards. To secure a favourable slot, the practical steps are to confirm specifications early, approve the sample promptly and confirm the bulk order as soon as approval is given. Brands that expect to reorder during a busy period should also indicate that intention early, so capacity can be considered in the planning.Where a schedule is tight, splitting the order into partial shipments is often the most effective option: the first group of styles is produced and shipped sooner, and the remainder follows. We will show the options and their trade-offs before you commit.Where a peak-period schedule is unavoidable, confirm the fabric first, since material lead time is often the limiting factor rather than sewing capacity.

Question 23

Accepted Answer

Rush ordersRush orders are handled case by case and depend on the production schedule at the time. Contact us as early as possible with your target date, and we will confirm whether the order can be prioritised, whether the schedule can be adjusted, or whether splitting the order into partial shipments would get the first styles to you sooner. Two factors usually decide what is possible: fabric availability and how far the sample stage has progressed. If the fabric is in stock and the sample is approved, a compressed schedule is often realistic. If material must be sourced, the timeline is limited by that lead time regardless of production capacity. Our team will tell you honestly what can be achieved rather than accepting a deadline that cannot be met. Where a date is fixed, for example for a launch or trade show, say so at the start so the plan can be built around it.For rush projects, decide in advance which elements could be simplified if needed, such as the number of decoration placements, because reducing scope is often faster than compressing production itself.

Question 24

Accepted Answer

Monthly production capacityMonthly output depends on the mix of styles in production, the fabrics involved and the season, so we confirm capacity for your specific order window rather than publishing one general figure. Basic styles such as plain tees and simple hoodies run faster per unit, while heavily washed denim and complex jackets take longer. When you send an inquiry, include the styles, approximate quantities and your target delivery date. Our team checks the production schedule and confirms what can be produced in that period, including whether the order should be split so the first batch arrives earlier. For brands planning a launch calendar, the practical advice is the same each time: confirm specifications early, approve the sample quickly, and place the bulk order as soon as approval is given. Orders booked ahead of peak production weeks are easier to schedule reliably. If you expect repeat orders in the same season, mention that when planning the first order, so capacity and fabric availability are considered together rather than arranged at short notice.

Question 25

Production lead time Bulk production generally takes about three to four weeks after sample approval, depending on order quantity, fabric availability

Accepted Answer

Production lead timeBulk production generally takes about three to four weeks after sample approval, depending on order quantity, fabric availability and the level of decoration such as printing, embroidery or washing. Sampling itself typically takes one to two weeks before that stage.Lead time is best planned as a chain rather than a single number: sample approval, fabric preparation, cutting, sewing, finishing and packing each take time, and confirmation of the actual dates happens when the order is placed. If a fabric must be sourced or dyed to match, that step sits on the critical path and should be resolved early. For brands working to a launch date, we recommend confirming specifications early, approving samples promptly and placing the bulk order as soon as approval is given. Where timing is tight, the order can sometimes be split into partial shipments so the first styles reach you sooner. If you are launching several styles at once, we can sequence production so the styles you plan to sell first are completed first, spreading delivery across the season.

Question 26

Fit tolerance Fit tolerance is agreed with you rather than applied as a fixed rule, because acceptable variation depends on the garment and the market

Accepted Answer

Fit toleranceFit tolerance is agreed with you rather than applied as a fixed rule, because acceptable variation depends on the garment and the market. For most woven and knit styles, we work to a measurement tolerance confirmed in the specification, and finished pieces are checked against the approved size chart during final inspection. Two practical points help avoid disagreement. First, define where each measurement is taken, since chest, waist and length can be measured in different ways. Second, agree which sizes are critical, as the smallest and largest sizes in a range often need closer attention than the middle.Where a brand has its own tolerance standard, for example a specific allowance for a wash effect that changes shrinkage, share it at the development stage so the sample and bulk order are produced to the same rule from the beginning. For styles that are washed, we suggest agreeing tolerance after the wash test, since finishing changes measurements slightly and the pre-wash figure is not the final one.

Question 27

Accepted Answer

Using your own size chartYes. Send your size chart and we will work to it, provided the increments are consistent and the measurements suit the fit you want. We review the chart before sampling and raise any point that looks inconsistent, such as uneven increments between sizes or proportions that may not suit the intended silhouette.Where a chart is based on an existing garment, send that garment as well if possible. Measuring the actual piece gives a clearer picture than the chart alone, and it removes ambiguity about where measurements are taken, such as chest at underarm or body length from the highest point of shoulder.Once confirmed, the chart becomes part of the specification and the reference for final inspection. It also travels with the order into future seasons, so reorders use the same standard rather than starting from a fresh interpretation. If your chart changes later, for example after updating your fit for a new season, tell us before the reorder so the pattern and specification can be updated to the new standard.

Accepted Answer

Fit approvalFit approval is handled through sampling. We produce a sample in the agreed size, usually a middle size for the range, and you evaluate the fit against your intention: shoulder position, body length, sleeve length, armhole comfort, hem width and the overall silhouette. For ranges with several sizes, we recommend approving a second sample in a different size, commonly the smallest or largest, so the grading can be judged rather than assumed. Feedback with photos on a body or mannequin, plus measurements against your chart, is the most efficient way to communicate changes.Once the fit is approved, that sample becomes the reference for production. Measurements are then checked against the approved chart during final inspection, which is what keeps a reorder consistent with the first order. If your team reviews from several locations, we can ship the fit sample to one reviewer, or arrange photos on a body and on a mannequin so decisions are compared consistently. If you would like a second opinion on fit during development, we can produce the sample set in two sizes and send photographs comparing them, which often settles a fit discussion faster than measurements alone.

Question 29

Accepted Answer

Plus-size and extended sizesYes. Extended sizes, including plus-size ranges, can be produced when the pattern is graded appropriately. The key point is that larger sizes are not simply scaled versions of smaller ones: proportions, armholes, sleeve lengths and body width need to be adjusted so the garment fits properly across the range. For brands developing an inclusive size range, we recommend confirming the chart and grading approach before sampling, then producing at least one sample in a mid-range size and one in an extended size. Comparing those two samples is the quickest way to judge whether the grading holds up.Practical details also matter at extended sizes, such as fabric consumption, seam strength and hardware weight. We will flag anything that could affect cost or durability so the range can be planned realistically. For inclusive ranges, we recommend testing one extended size early in development rather than after bulk, because pattern adjustments are much cheaper to make at the sample stage.

Accepted Answer

Custom sizing and gradingYes. We work with custom size charts and grading rules supplied by the brand, and we can also develop sizing from a reference garment. Grading is confirmed before sampling, because a chart that is set correctly at the start prevents measurement problems across the entire order.Where a brand uses its own chart, we check it for internal consistency first, for example that increments between sizes are even and that the proportions suit the intended fit. If we spot an inconsistency, we raise it before sampling rather than producing a full size set that repeats the same issue. After approval, the size chart becomes part of the specification, and measurements are checked against it during final inspection. That gives you a documented standard to compare against on future reorders.Where a chart is based on an existing garment, send the garment too if possible: measuring the actual piece removes ambiguity about where measurements are taken, such as chest at underarm versus chest one inch below.
